Chris Brandt is Retiring! November 22, 2023 – Posted in: Global News

After nearly five decades of dedicated service, Chris Brandt, our esteemed colleague, and advocate, is embarking on a well-deserved retirement. Chris’s journey began as a special education teacher, marking the commencement of a remarkable career devoted to

empowering individuals with disabilities.

As the former CEO of AtWork!, Chris played a pivotal role in transforming our organization. Under her 22 years of leadership, AtWork! transitioned from an outdated, segregated service model to a nationally recognized trailblazer in community-integrated employment inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her commitment to the cause and expertise in public policy has positioned AtWork! as a leader in the Employment First movement.

Beyond her contributions to AtWork!, Chris serves as a Citizen Commissioner on the US AbilityOne Commission, a position she was appointed to by President Biden. In this capacity, she and her fellow commissioners have been instrumental in advocating for the end of subminimum wages and modernizing the federal procurement program. Their efforts are creating more opportunities through community-integrated employment and fostering upward mobility.

While Chris is stepping into a well-earned retirement, she remains committed to the cause. As an active Citizen Commissioner, she will continue to serve and contribute to the movement that has defined her career.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chris for her unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and profound impact on the lives of those we serve. Please join us in wishing Chris a retirement filled with joy, relaxation, and the knowledge that her legacy will endure.
