Our Mission Services

AtWork! has advocated for and created integrated employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities for 60 years. It is our mission to empower people to get good jobs, increase community connection, and successfully transition to life after high school.
We believe that people with disabilities are an integral part of our society, our businesses, and our lives. We believe that everyone has the capacity to work and that there is a place for a person with disabilities in every business in America. To support the people we serve to the best of our abilities, we focus our mission services in three fields:
Here at AtWork!, we understand that every person is different. It is our job to find and celebrate your unique talents that make you, you. Our success, is directly measured by yours. We celebrate your skills and abilities and use them to help you find your career because our services are:

Personalized

Everyone starts with their own individual and detailed evaluation and plan. We listen to your hopes, dreams, and career aspirations to begin understanding the opportunities ahead. We work with you to create the perfect plan just for you and keep it updated regularly to keep us on the track to success.

Professional

The AtWork! staff are trained professionals. Our employment staff are proactive and communicative, ensuring you’re never without support. We form respectful partnerships that recognize and honor the contributions, expectations, and successes of all partners.

Innovative

AtWork! is known for alternative, strategic approaches to traditional employment that work to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary. We get jobs for people others consider unemployable.

Caring

AtWork! delivers compassionate, dedicated support that appreciates and values each individual’s unique attribute. When we say that your success is our success, we really mean it.

Person-Centered Planning

A Holistic Approach to Employment & Inclusion
At AtWork!, we believe that true success starts with the individual—and Person-Centered Planning helps us see the whole person. This in-depth and empowering process brings together the people who know the person best—family, job coaches, teachers, teammates, and others—to build a meaningful path forward.

Through guided conversations and creative tools like visuals, story sharing, and future planning, we explore:
Who I Am: Gifts, strengths, and personality
What I Need: What works, what doesn’t
What I Want: Dream job, ideal day, possible futures

Together, the group identifies goals and explores available resources. Everyone in the room—often for the first time—sees they are part of a team committed to supporting the individual. It’s a powerful reminder: no one is alone on this journey.
The planning process includes:
  • A “Tell Me About Yourself” history meeting
  • A 2–3 hour facilitated session with all collaborators
  • A follow-up to keep the momentum going

Whether you’re exploring employment, community inclusion, or looking for fresh direction, Person-Centered Planning is a powerful tool to reconnect, refocus, and move forward with intention.

Early outcomes show increased job placement and deeper connections between families and providers.
